10 post offices have been closed in the Washington area over a new anthrax mail scare. A sensor at a navy base mail center indicated anthrax, and a follow-up test corroborated the initial finding, prompting a shutdown of neighborhood offices and CDC-recommended antibiotic treatments for mail workers. A definitive test will take days, however, and the quantity of the detected substance is small. Officials are emphasizing that false positives are common, and they do not believe that the situation is serious.
Even if this turns out to be nothing, it will be a reminder to Monday morning news viewers that we still haven't gotten the anthrax mailer. Sort of like a couple other bad guys who are on the loose....
