Friends,
Let's go back almost two years to September 24, 2003, a very important date. It was on this day that Congress had a chance to increase funding for FEMA by $1.55 Billion. That would be another $1.55 billion that could possibly have gone towards helping people stay alive in New Orleans. However, freshman Congressman Rick Renzi, already well into his first term of rubber stamping Bush policies, voted NAY on this bill and so by 23 votes (every Democrat voted YEA on the bill) it failed.
It is time to hold BUSH-RENZI accountable for what is happening in New Orleans. Let's tell them to stop passing the buck and blaming state and local officials. It's hard to admit that one may be partially responsible for such a tragedy, but that is what you must do when you are a member of Congress or the leader of the free world and you make the wrong decisions. BUSH-RENZI like to promote themselves as "tough" individuals who make decisions and then live by them. Let's tell them that it's time to stop talking the talk and start walking the walk. While we are at it, let's make sure they understand that they no longer have the right to demand anything, let alone an uncontested confirmation of John Roberts to Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
It is high time that we put people in Congress who will support vital Federal funding to organizations such as FEMA, who protect and assist our own through hard times. Let's tell BUSH-RENZI that we are tired of three years of bad decisions and that it's time for a change.
Sincerely,
Mike Caccioppoli
