"America is just the country that how all the written guarantees in the world for freedom are no protection against tyranny and oppression of the worst kind. There the politician has come to be looked at as the very scum of society"
-Peter Kropotkin
Karl Rove, his consorts in the one-party Republican congress and their concubines and harlots in the mainstream media have executed an enormously successful misdirection play, a nearly perfect double-reverse, flea-flicker with the clock running down and a Double MacGuffin to boot. With all of the focus being on painting the lipstick on the pig that is the Iraq War in order to transform it into a prom queen.
The full frontal assault to relaunch the failed (but maybe not failed at all according to Greg Palast's latest book Armed Madhouse) invasion and occupation of Iraq by tapping into the same formula of "We're Number One" that once worked so successfully for one of our top automobile manufacturers before the corporatists cut them off at the knees by busting the unions and exporting the manufacturing jobs to third world sweatshops, the Rovian express is once again poised to hit the motherlode of Fool's Gold that is the ever dwindling American mind.
The angry, flag-waving fucksticks will have their panties in a wad by the time that the GOP message machine hammers home enough nationalist horseshit through their mammoth PR campaign to energize the rednecks of peckerwood nation into mobilizing for another extremely divisive "US versus Them" jihad against those godless fucking liberals who cast their lot with `Hanoi Jane' during Vietnam and are now throwing in with the `Islamo-fascists' who want to kill us because they are envious of our way of life. I personally find it hard to believe that anybody could possibly be envious of belonging to a nation with a ruthless and corrupt political system that is only an arm for resource gobbling, life-destroying trans-national corporations bent on the subjugation of entire nations as cheap slave labor and is too fucking stupid and disengaged to muster enough energy to fish a Dorito through a bowl of cheese dip while watching spectator sports, cheesy talent shows or inane sitcoms but that is why my room has likely already been booked for an extended at Camp Haliburton.
The main point is that the morons believe it and they are our most abundant national product, our top commodity although it is tragically non-exportable so we are stuck with our glut of angry, clueless idiots. Such audacity by Rove and the pathological thugs in the White House and the gangsters who really control them, it completely diverts the attention of the bewildered herd once again from the real war at hand, the war in which if they are not already members of the walking wounded are either collaborators or have been conscripted as servants or slaves. The real war is the CLASS WAR and Americans are getting their asses handed to them by the corrupt globalist elites who really call the shots.
While all of the posturing and pandering was going on in the congressional patriotic dog and pony show the Republicans did manage to win the following firefights in the CLASS WAR:
Republican Bill Frist's Senate killed the minimum wage hike....AGAIN. The minimum wage has not been raised in nine years and it never will be under the GOP controlled one-party government that stabs regular Americans in the back while showering favors on big corporate donors. Of course the Republicans and their flacks accused the Dems demagoguery for criticizing this latest assault on the working class. According to a Christian Science Monitor story that utilizes quotes from both GOP spokesmen and the President of the grand daddy of right-wing think tanks The Heritage Foundation:
"It's a tough issue to explain to voters-and therefore easy for Democrats to demagogue"
"It's like drug prices and gasoline prices, where it's easy to characterize the underlying company as evil," says Michael Franc, vice president for government relations at the Heritage Foundation. "Those, plus minimum wage, are the most susceptible to the passions of the moment, and politicians don't want to go home and have to explain why this [a higher minimum wage] might hurt the people it's supposed to help. The moment you start explaining, you're losing."
No liberal or progressive think tanks or spinmeisters were quoted although longtime bogeyman Edward Kennedy was in the aforementioned story. Apparently FOX is not the only 'fair and balanced' media outlet in America today.
The Republicans also quashed the renewal of the Voting Rights Act, we certainly wouldn't want those pesky blacks and Hispanics to somehow affect the upcoming mid-terms now would we?
Denny's House of Pork voted to eliminate the inheritance tax by enough to ensure that their wealthy electorate will keep the cash spigot turned on with campaign contributions right on up until November. The Walton family, that is the Wal Mart Waltons of America's favorite dumping ground for cheap Chinese crap likely squealed with glee and thanked GOP Jesus for their extra loaves and fishes. By the way, the government is going to have to borrow another $760 billion to finance the largesse of their government.
And in related news stories from the front lines of the CLASS WAR:
Jobless claims jumped although the unemployment rate remained artificially low due to deceptive statistics that fail to include discouraged workers aka longtime unemployed, under-employed and part-time workers.
CEO pay is now up to 262 times that of the average worker.
It's not often that I agree with David Brooks of the New York Times who is the house conservative on the op-ed page of Scooter Libby's favorite liberal rag but he hit it out of the park last week with his column `Changing Bedfellows' that sums it up perfectly:
If American politics could start with a clean slate today, the main argument wouldn't be between liberalism and conservatism, words that have become labels without coherent philosophies. The main fight would pit populist nationalism against progressive globalism.
Here's how a populist nationalist candidate would sound: ''We are the ordinary, burden-bearing people of this country. We are the ones who work hard and build communities. It's time for us to come together and recognize that our loyalty to our fellow Americans comes first.
''That means we can't waste our precious blood and treasure on poorly planned, pie-in-the-sky wars to bring democracy to the Middle East. We need to get out of Iraq now. That means we can't sell our ports to our enemies. That means we must secure our borders against terrorists and illegal immigrants who break the law, take our jobs and drive down wages.
''We need to stand up to the big money interests who value their own profits more than their own countrymen, who outsource jobs to China and India, who destroy unions and control Washington. We need to fight off their efforts to take away our Social Security and Medicare. Instead of widening inequality and a race to the bottom, we need universal health care and decent wages. We need a government that will stand up to Internet porn and for decent family values.
''We're tired of both the corporate elites and the cultural elites. We want leaders who understand our anxieties and are, like us, tired of a world where nothing is safe, where everything can be swept away by a serious illness, a divorce or a terrorist's bomb.''
This is what the two-party corporate scam fears the most, an increased focus on domestic problems and extracting ourselves from the disastrous globalist trade agreements that have devastated our manufacturing sector and stolen the dreams of prosperity from millions. In order for Americans to return some sanity to this land we need to get away fro the current definitions of liberal and conservative even if it takes a compromise on some divisive social issues to make peace with the more moderate elements of the religious community in exchange for a focus on reigning in corporate power and cleansing the Washington whorehouses in order to return the chance at economic opportunity for the majority of Americans.
A legitimate third party must be created and the power of Huey Long style populism injected into the discourse that Rove and his fascist slime have turned into nothing more than a forum for racist demagoguery and religious bigotry to beat back any attempt at getting to the issues and the truth about how truly rotten this system has become under the stewardship of the Clintons, the Bushes, James Baker, Dick Cheney, The House of Saud, The Israeli Lobby, trans-national corporations and high dollar investment bankers and their fronts of the WTO, IMF and every other sleazy organization that barters in the blood of the young, exploits the impoverished in the name of privatization and free markets that are anything but free. The existing system is an abysmal failure and the looters who continue to accelerate their planetary plundering need to have their day in The Hague. It's time to stop supporting dictatorships, waging illegal wars, stealing resources, enslaving millions in sweatshops and manipulating markets and to demand that the criminals who have done so at the expense of the oppressed accountable for their dirty deeds.
Oh and by the way, the FBI arrested seven sad sacks in Miami yesterday for their alleged participation in a plot to blow up the Sears Tower. The men were `BLACK Muslims' or more appropriately in deciphering the Rove code `militant niggers' to the racist rednecks and paramilitary types that Karl Rove seeks to reach out to in order to juice their turnout at the polls and man precincts with goons in order to ensure that no BLACK Muslims are able to use their ballots to take over the government. No explosives or weapons were found and the media circus won't affect the parade for the NBA Champion Miami Heat.
