Listening to a few clips of Bush administration framing after the Lamont victory, and then seeing Bush struggling to put the Salafi hatred into something he can understand with his "islamofascist" simple mind slogan, I am determined to respond in kind.
Running through some slogans, this one popped into my head and has the right cadence:
Bush's DANGLE and STRANGLE strategy in Iraq, DANGLE the US troops for the terrorists, but STRANGLE US troops of the resources and freedom to control their fate.
I hate the technique, but I have become resigned to a reality where thinking and reasoning is prohibited from the political debate in the US.
So, to make some kinds of framing less attractive, I think the best response is a catchy phrase that will be so negative that the favorite Bush cabal phrases will become radioactive.
DANGLE has the attributes of being easily associated with someone hanging by the neck, DANGLING, or someone DANGLING on the thread-bare rope over the cliff twisting in the wind, the bait DANGLING in the trap, the side of beef DANGLING on the meat hook.
STRANGLE is the image of someone hanging by the neck, the image of your favorite dog tangled up and STRANGLING by his choke chain, and the common usage of STRANGLING an organization or people by denying them the resources they need.
If Bush wants simple slogans, fine, give his simple minded DANGLE AND STRANGLE strategy to the war its full due with a stupid simple rhyming slogan.
