Of course, his
visit yesterday was billed as being part of his campaign to
"bolster local and state party organizations even in the nation's most conservative areas." I'm not keen on that idea--seems like an odd idea to spread scarce resources thinner in noncompetitive areas rather than focusing on swing states or districts.
Still, even if you are totally down with Dean's quixotic "compete in every state" plan, wouldn't you expect such an event to feature an appearance by the governor of the state, if she happens to be the only Democrat elected statewide? Yet "Democratic Gov. Kathleen Sebelius...hadn't planned to attend any of Dean's events." Isn't that really a sign that Sebelius doesn't think Dean's presence is helpful in a conservative state like hers? Shouldn't her preference hold sway, since she's already pulled off a remarkable Democratic win there? Or, alternately: doesn't that kind of snub bother you?
