How much money are developers paying John Morgan to criticize the Environmental Protection Agency for studying even the
possibility of harmful levels of naturally occurring asbestos in the air in El Dorado County, California? Asbestos is tucked away in the ground in every county of this state, but burgeoning development in some California counties might be cause for alarm.
Says Mr. Morgan in this Folsom Telegraph Article:
Be very suspicious of what the Fed EPA reports. Fed EPA's presence in El Dorado County has only resulted in fear mongering. Rather than practicing common sense and truly protecting public health, Fed EPA has been engaging in intimidation and grandstanding. Fed EPA lacks accountability and continually fails to communicate to the people of El Dorado County."
More on the flip...
I'm more suspicious of Mr. Morgan, a county official who is actively discouraging research that could save the lives of kids in a burgeoning bedroom California community.
A slightly more balanced article appears here.
FYI, EPA's Web site on the issue.
And here's a really scary article from the "intelligent Conservative" (whah???) on how the federal government has deceived us from day asbestos, and pesticides and...
This deserves a more detailed and researched diary, which I will do (tomorrow) if there's interest. If not, I'll just steam in silence about how some beautiful California mountains will be torn to bits to make baseball fields for upper-class kids who might very well suffer asbestiosis.
