Is anyone else confused on the stance this administration has taken on the security for the country? Let's forget about the port deal for awhile. The administration has threatened the republicans that would vote against the Patriot Act, and those who would vote to probe deeper into the NSA domestic spy case. Now let's throw the Port deal with the UAE, and their involvement with the company in Georgia that makes critical parts used in jets for the military.
Ok, now you see why I am confused with the way the administration, and the law makers are thinking here. Read on>>>

Yesterday the Senate passed The Patriot Act by a slim margin, 89-10, and yes that was sarcasm. Most of the [P. A.] will now be permanent, and other sections will be looked at in 4 years. This action by those who were put in power after all the, e-mailing, letters and phone calling, is just one more thing that shows we are on are own. Now on any other day I would probably start ranting that we need to take to the streets and take back our country, but we know that ain't happening. I could start bitching about how fat, stupid and lazy half the country is, but why? Soon it will all come to a head and we will find out the true fiber of the people of this country. But the one thing I will say that I believe, we will not vote our way out of this, as so many think will happen in the Mid-Term Elections, and in 08.
Anyway, yesterday The Patriot Act was voted on and you heard hardly anything about it. Yet this morning I read that Chimp Boy applauds the Senate for passing it. Well of course he does. Look, why would he not be happy? This lets him have more power, [not that matters] he never paid any attention to the laws that already existed.
First enacted shortly after the September 11 attacks, the Patriot Act broadened the ability of the U.S. government to obtain private records, conduct wiretaps and searches and share information.
The bill would also provide fresh tools to combat terrorist financing, protect mass transit, secure ports and curb abuse of methamphetamines, a highly addictive drug.
The version approved by the House included a number of changes to better safeguard privacy. But Senate Democrats, joined by a handful of Republicans, demanded more.
In his gleeful reaction to the news, George W. Bush said, set up the Jack, and cut some lines. Just kidding.
Bush's reaction was,
"I applaud the Senate for voting to renew the Patriot Act and overcoming the partisan attempts to block its passage," Bush said in a statement issued during his trip to South Asia.
"The terrorists have not lost the will or the ability to attack us," he added. "The Patriot Act is vital to the war on terror and defending our citizens against a ruthless enemy."
Democratic Sen. Russ Feingold of Wisconsin, who led the opposition to renewal, predicted that more safeguards would eventually be adopted.
"This fight is not over," Feingold said.
Now to be as Fair and Un-balanced as Fux News, I have added some of the stupidity from the right-side of the aisle.
Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, a Tennessee Republican, also hailed passage of the bill, but said, "Due to persistent delays by some of my friends on the other side of the aisle, it has taken far too long."
Will someone tell this idiot that is what it's all about, that those who are not involved with the great theft of rights and freedoms, are going to try and stop it.
Passage of the bill was made possible by Senate approval on Wednesday of an administration-backed compromise bill, which would provide additional privacy protections.
One change would clarify that traditional libraries would not be subjected to federal subpoenas issued without the approval of a judge.
Another would remove a previously proposed requirement that recipients of such subpoenas provide the with the names of their lawyers.
A third would allow individuals to challenge gag orders when they have been subpoenaed to produce personal information. But they would have to wait a year to do so.
Among the additional revisions already being pushed in the Senate for consideration later this year is one that would require the government to notify targets of "sneak-and-peek" searches within seven days.
Bush Needs an Anal Probe
Well, the NSA probe has been put on the back burner indefinitely. In my eyes that proves that the Democrats are a part of the striping of the rights of the American people. I mean come-on, you back down when the administration is guilty of breaking the law. They must have been real close to finding out who they were spying on, what other reason would Rove come out and threaten those who persisted on pursuing the issue.
Now on this port deal, I feel that it will pass. You may ask what makes me so sure? Well for one Bush promised to use the power of veto, on this. It would be the first veto, by this Resident in the five years of this administration. So that's one of the reasons I think it will happen. Another one is, if you look at a map and where the UAE is in relation with Iran, and there you have it.
[Quick Note] About the teacher that was suspended, for answering students questions. Some of the so-call independents thinkers, that I know and talk to everyday, seem to think that the superintendent may have done the right thing, in this case. To them I say bull-pucky!
Some of their reasoning is that the teacher may have crossed the line in his answers, and comments. The superintendent of the school says it was to one-sided. Others are trying to reason that, if the tables were turned, would I want the teacher to give the Neo-Con's way of thinking on the things brought up in the class. Yes, if it is done in the manure that he handled the situation in this instance.
Look, I know that in my school district here in Western PA, the kids are fed the talking points from the Right, but not much from any other angle. I keep my kid informed, and we discus these types of things. Does it bother me that she gets to here other viewpoints, other than mine, not at all? I have talked to her friends about politics especially during the `04' election. I would give them my thoughts on things and tell them why I came to that conclusion, then ask them their thoughts and why. Most of the kids that took the right-wing stance gave the reasoning of because mom and dad said so. Now on the other hand none said it was an influence from a teacher.
Anyway keeping this short, The teacher should not have been suspended, and some of the takes I get from what I have read, he will surely be fired. If he is, the kid and his parent will have destroyed this man's career. Because in this day and age of the Bush "No Child Left Behind" you can bet he will be black listed, or maybe he will just conform, like they want. Anyway this turns out, teachers should stand behind this teacher, and not back down.
Incase you didn't about it yet here is the story,
