  • More "permanent realignment" crap, from the DeLay redistricting crowd:

The Texas Legislature neared final passage of a Republican-sponsored congressional redistricting plan last night amid bitter partisan battling that was further inflamed by an internal GOP analysis of the plan's likely impact on the state's congressional delegation.
    [...]

"This is the most aggressive map I have ever seen," Joby Fortson wrote in the analysis, which he e-mailed to congressional aides. "This has a real national impact that should assure that Republicans keep the House no matter the national mood."

  • What happened to the "God Gap"?

Catholic Shift - 16 point swing to Dems nationally since 2004
White Evangelical Shift - 16 point swing to Dems nationally since 2004.

  • The Onion: Republicans blame Democrats for their losses.
  • Fighting Dem Bryan Lentz stepped aside in his run in PA-07 to give the stage to Congressman-elect Joe Sestak. He ran for PA State House instead, and won.
  • NOW Chafee considers dumping the GOP. Good thing he didn't do it before. He cost the DSCC at least $5 million.
  • I'm playing the world's tiniest violin:

As the canvassing continues in Virginia, Sen. George Allen, R-Virginia, is sequestered in his home, "shell shocked," and going through "a nightmare," during this period of limbo, a senior Allen staffer tells CNN.

He really, really thought he'd be president. He's not crying because he lost the Senate job. He hated that one. He's crying because his presidential hopes are dead.
