What's up with Hugo Chavez these days? Lately, he's thrown some Bible Bangers out of the Country, allied himself to Iran & Libya for Nuclear Projects - you know, the one's who want Israel wiped off the face of the map - and, he has a strange and cozy relationship with Narco Terrorists from Colombia,( are they the same ones George was getting his stash from?) not to mention Fidel Castro - you know, the one who had nuclear warheads aimed at us and who enslaves his own people? Oh, what the heck, he got them out of the Hurricane's path and then caved into US assistance with Hurricane cleanup. But now, it's Halloween !!!!!!

Now, let's talk about the Christian Ministries in Latin America. We are all aware of the brainwashing and ruination of total cultures historically in the name of the Lord, but I must say the Christian Ministries I have encountered in Mexico and Latin America truly have helped feed, clothe, house and provide medical care for indigenous and poor people. Ah, but for what price you ask. No doubt, noone can hardly call Christian Ministries altruistic, surely a heavy dose of a belief system goes with the goods.
The "New Tribes Mission" purpose statement is pretty straight forward:
" Motivated by the love of Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, NTM exists to assist the ministry of the local church through the mobilizing, equipping, and coordinating of missionaries to evangelize unreached people groups, translate the scriptures, and see indigenous New Testament churches established that truly glorify God."
Here, check them out: here
Nothing turns me off more than a fundamentalist, but strangely, what we have found is that as far as conversion goes, the Christian Ministries are just footsteps away from failure. It seems that the native-anamist belief systems, coupled with a do-it-yourself- version of Catholicism are deeply entrenched in the social psyche. One conversation I had recently with a family of recipients of the Christian Ministries services told me, " We prayed so hard to our Santo, Santo Tomas de los Pobres for help. And you see, he sent to us these nice people who read from the Bible and they have helped us. I have shoes now for my children, and a Doctor, too. We believe different from them, but that's okay. This is what our Santo give to us." Ironic, and truthfully if anything, Pentacostalism is the ticket down here. So, a bowl of soup is a bowl of soup, no matter who it comes from. Seems the natives are cognizant of designs trying to made on their souls. So, what's with Chavez? Is he afraid of a little competition?
Poor Halloween, a pagan holiday originally, commercialized now to the max. We have found that Halloween is celebrated - for the sake of the kids - throughout Mexico and Latin America, and nothing, nothing will ever obscure or usurp the Dia de los Muertos. what's wrong with a little diveristy, Hugo? Chavez, in his zest for purismo (nationalism) has taken away a person's right to choose to celebrate "other" holidays. My God, what will he say about Festivus, where everyone is able to air their grievances?
Finally, there is worry over Chavez's alleged anti-semitic feelings. Well, I guess raiding Colegio Hebraica, a Jewish grammar school in Caracas a year ago, that's not the same as the Nazi's kicking down the doors of the Jews in Poland is it?

From "Hurricane Hugo":
"Chavez first ran for president on a reform platform, winning in a landslide. What few understood then was that chavez planned to revolutionize the country following a plan masterminded by his longtime friend Norberto Ceresole, an Argentinian writer infamous for his books denying the Holocaust and his conspiracy theories about Jewish plans to control the planet. The tital of Ceresole's 1999 book on Chavez and Veneauela, Caudillo, Ejercito, Pueblo ("Leader, Army, People"), eerily recalls
the German national socialist maxim, "One People, One Country, One Leader." (the first chapter is titled, "The Jewish Question and the state of Israel") After denying the Holocaust, he explains that the greatest threat to Chavismo comes from the Jews of Venezuela. A self-described Communist and fascist, Ceresole became an expert in national socialism after designing Juan Domingo Peron's electoral platform in Argentina. In Ceresole's hands, representative democracy mutates into "participatory" systems led by cult-like figures; tellingly, Chavez praises the "participatory democracy" of Libya, Syria, Iran and cuba. Ceresole's structure channels the people's will through the charismatic strongman; the military functions as the central political body. Ceresole's roadmap for Venezuela suffered some setbacks, including a 2002 coup that displaced Chavez for 48 hours and a national strike that almost toppled the government. But Venezuela's dramatic political metamorphosis was nonetheless complete by the time Ceresole died in 2003."
Hugo Chavez, yep, 2/3 of his country lives in abject poverty. He has distributed food, brought in Cuban Medical Teams to assist the needs of the people, and there has been some redistribution of land.
Nah, you don't think he's just using that 2/3 as bait do you ????
Happy Halloween,
