Sandy Berger has it his way (w/poll)

I'm surprised at the lack of outrage here about the Sandy Berger story. There has been one good diary, which tended to downplay the incident. I take the opposite approach. I condemn what he did strongly. I think you should too
First of all for the defense, Berger took COPIES of what HE HAD written. This may be true in part or in whole but it does not justify, in any way whatsoever, what Berger did. Remember, he first tried to say it was an honest mistake. Turns out he hid the documents in his pockets, snuck them outside to stash away, retrieved them later for review or destruction.
There is no way that I can come up with a reason not to condemn that. What he did was criminal. It was an embarrassment to all of us who express our admiration for the Clinton administration and a slap in the face of writers like me who have been ridiculing the right wing attacks of Berger.
For once, they were right. Sandy Berger is a creepy, slimy dishonest guy. He should never be asked again for his "expert" opinion, should be punished to the fullest extent possible and should be shunned by the progressive community.
Before anyone accuses me of anything, I am not a troll and think that the Clinton administration towers over our current regime in competence and intelligence. This damages that reputation but does not come anywhere close to ruining it. But if we are to have any credibility when condemning the actions of the right wing then, I feel, we need to do the same when one of our own is guilty. Sandy Berger's actions should be condemned by everyone, left, right and center. What he did was wrong. Very wrong.
