AP: Top 10 News Stories of 2006

It's time for the top 10 news stories of 2006, as voted by members of the Associated Press.

And the winners (??) are:

1.)   The Iraq War
2.)   U.S. Elections
3.)   Nuclear Standoffs
4.)   Illegal Immigration
5.)   Scandals in Congress
6.)   Saddam Convicted
7.)   Mideast Fighting
7.)   Rumsfeld Resigns
9.)   Airliner Plot
10.)  Disaster in Darfur

And before anyone points out the error, there was a tie for 7th place.

Personally, I'd move up the scandals in Congress and Rumsfeld's resignation and drop Saddam's conviction off the list completely.  After all, that was more of a foregone conclusion than a story.
