At this point, after all we've been through and all the setbacks we've faced, I can hardly believe that we might... MIGHT... have reached the turning point. But every now and again I see something that gives me hope.
My browser homepage is set to yahoo.com. I've always used the news headlines there as a handy bellwether of media spin, and thus the status of our battle.
And nothing gives me a greater pleasure when it looks like our side has scored some points in a decisive, non-ambivalent way.
Tonight when I log on, the two top headlines I'm greeted with are:
- Rice discusses terror, but not under oath
- Kerry reveals plan to keep jobs in U.S.
You don't even have to go into the articles and parse semantics and spin when those are the headlines. And
if you look at the articles, you're greeted with a standard campaign photo of Kerry in front of waving signs and adoring fans, and an absolutely
horrible picture of Condi looking rather like Gollum.
Has, heaven forbid, the tone changed in our favor?
Michael
