Dear Diary,
As you know, I am a fence-sitter by nature. I like a hell of a lot of information before I make a decision, and I like to ponder all of the potential consequences of making a decision before I do so. (This does not apply to me opening my mouth, unfortunately.)
So, here I sit, pickets poking me in the butt, Dean on one side and Clark on the other. I won't be tipped by external forces like the Wyoming wind. I need to come to this conclusion on my own. And though my participation in the very late Wyoming Dem Caucus won't matter when the dust settles, I need to do what I feel is right.
And so, Diary, I have been doing my usual "lot of thinking," as I imagine Kossians across the land must be doing. Here is my train of thought.
Dean is very refreshing for now. I am curious to see how far to the center he slides in the future. This is not a criticism. He is a great politician.
If there is one thing I love, it is an underdog. I also like cage-rattling shaker-uppers. He used to be all of these things, but now he is "inevitable."
Clark is cool, too. He doesn't hesitate to call it like it is, and to set diplomacy aside when Bush needs a smack-down. He stands with me on many of the issues, and has killer kred. I think he would rock as president.
I kinda wish Dean had come along either four years ago or four (or eight) years from now. As I said, he is refreshing, and a great asset for Democrats.
But, I think I'm gonna be a Clarkie. Not a hardcore "Dean is Unelectable" Clarkie, but a good-natured one that will support whomever is nominated anyway.
Okay. Theoria is a Clarkie.
