There is a 1-hour documentary on the subject of Peak Oil that will be airing on CNN this weekend as a part of the "CNN Presents" program. The program title is "We Were Warned", and is hosted by Frank Sesno. Details for the program can be found here:
http://www.cnn.com/...
Airs: March 18 and 19 at 8 p.m., 11 p.m. ET on CNN.
For those of you overseas, it will air on CNN International, and I will put the showtimes at the end of the diary.
Now the question is, will this program be any good? Will they really do the subject justice, or will they completely screw it up?
In the program description they start out by talking about a hypothetical where a hurricane takes out Houston, and a terrorist strike comes 2 days later. If this were all the program were about, then I would say that they missed the point entirely, and write it all off as a waste of time.
Based upon what I have seen so far however, I am cautiously optimistic about the thing. I have seen a number of clips and transcripts of interviews with Sesno about the program:

and here:

plus an educators guide for teachers:

What I do know is that there are interviews with several people who have good "street cred" on the subject of Peak Oil. The 3 that I have seen so far are Roscoe Bartlett, Matt Simmons, and James Woolsey. All of these are arguably fairly conservative - this is probably intentional, and probably a good idea. If this issue were to be seen as something that only progressives are pushing, then red-staters will probably tune it all out and write it off as some sort of a scheme by the environmentalists.
More discussion of the program appears here:

Once the program has aired, there will be other stories over there with more discussion.
For those of you overseas, the program will also air on CNN International, and the showtimes will be:
Saturday Sunday
Buenos Aires 1900 2100
CET 2300 1800
New Delhi 1730 2230
Hong Kong 2000 2100
I believe that the program will air more than once each day. Someone else came up with the following times.
Saturday: 12:00 GMT 22:00 GMT
Sunday: 13:00 GMT 17:00 GMT
