Bush is losing.
He is losing over Iraq. He is losing over Katrina. He is losing over the economy. He is losing over torture. He is losing over secret gulags. He is losing over illegal secret spying on citizens.
Bush is hated. Many terrorists hate him. Many citizens hate him. Some hate him enough that they want him dead. They think the world would be a better place if someone killed him. Those that don't want him dead want him impeached. Impeached and then jailed for treason or war crimes. He is not the most popular guy.
In a word, Bush is losing big time.
But his minions have a plan. More on the flip.
There will be an attempted assassination attempt on the President in 2006. The attempt will fail. The attempt will actually be a black op by forces loyal to the president (or loyal to the forces that control the president). If the black operators are good, the attempt will be done by real, legitimate Muslim, middle-east terrorists that get played by double agents. If the operators are not so good there will be at least will a surface claim that al quaeda was behind it. There is a plan B. In plan B an American "liberal terrorist" is the attempted assassin.
In either case, the attempt will be all the proof required to really get serious about ramping up security and illegal spying. It will be the excuse for the White House to take even more power and control and to further piss on the constitution.
There are other variations to this plan. Maybe they'll uncover some massive terrorist plot to kill hundreds or thousands.
In such a climate, no true patriot would call for impeaching the president. Or, should they, it will just be further proof of how wrong they were when they disappear in the middle of the night.
They have a plan. Violence by the opposition just plays into that plan by justifying even more heavy-handed reactions. So how do you counter someone who controls the voting booth, the media, the military, the courts, the banks, the Congress and has the backing of big business?
