This is a copy of the newsletter that Rick Renzi put out today about me. I will also print my newsletter responding to his attacks and I will print my press release as well.
RENZI NEWSLETTER:
Dear Friends and Supporters:
I'm writing you today with an urgent request.
September 30th is the last day of the third quarter for disclosing financial contributions to my campaign. Since I last wrote to you, I have gained another political opponent in my campaign for re-election to Congress. Now I have two Democrats running against me for my seat! I will need to have strong financial numbers in order to dissuade the opposition and their supporters from coming after me. If it looks like they can beat me, liberal donors from around the country will start sending money their way.
In fact, one of my opponents, former Arizona state legislator Jack Jackson, Jr., was recently in Washington, D.C. for a fundraiser with ultra-liberals Congressman Barney Frank and Senator Joe Lieberman.
The other liberal in the race, Mike Cacciopolli, proudly boasts of his support for same-sex marriage and advocates abandoning our war on terrorism.
I hope you will agree with me that the views of these two gentlemen do not reflect the values of Arizona's Congressional District One. Nor, do they represent the values of mainstream America.
I will fight to stay in Congress so I can continue my work supporting our military, fighting the War on Terror, cutting taxes, and working to implement real control over our southern border. I recently announced my proposal for a Red Zone Defense along our border with Mexico. (You can read the Arizona Republic's article by clicking here.)
If you do agree with me, please join me in my fight to protect this district and our country from the liberals! Your secure online contribution today will go a long way towards victory in November. There is nothing more powerful than having a strong financial standing in politics. Your most generous financial support will help send the liberals packing!
Please click here today and make a secure online donation. Your help is greatly appreciated. A contribution of $1,000, $500, $250, $100, or even $35 is greatly appreciated. I thank you in advance for your support.
Best Regards,
Rick Renzi
United States Congressman
Arizona's District One
P.S. Please don't delete this email. I need to have the strongest financial showing possible by September 30th in order to show the opposition that we're ready and that we're serious. Thank you!
MY NEWSLETTER:
RENZI ON THE RUN
Today, Rick Renzi sent out a newsletter begging for money because he is worried that I might be closing in on him. The fact that a guy who has taken thousands of dollars from the recently indicted Tom Delay would beg for money the very day after he was indicted shows you something about Mr. Renzi. He has already raised nearly a million bucks and he wants more by tomorrow night. He mentions that Dems are getting help from "liberals" such as Sen. Lieberman. Last I checked, Lieberman was far from liberal, but what does Rick care about truth? He also says that I "advocate abandoning our war on terrorism." Once again Rick proves what a sleazy liar he is. I have said that I'm for ending the occupation of Iraq, which as we know has absolutely nothing to do with the war on terrorism. Rick however, just defends one lie with another in the true tradition of his mentor Karl Rove. Maybe he forgot that no weapons of mass destruction were found there. He also mentions that I support gay marriage. You see, even when Rick makes himself sick to his stomach by telling the truth, he fails to tell the whole truth. I believe that the government should not be taking benefits away from the few that still have them. This means that children of same-sex couples would also lose benefits. As a father of twelve children he should be ashamed of himself from wanting to deprive innocent children of being able to see a doctor if they get sick.
Renzi claims that he must stay in Congress in order to "support our military." I guess he means by not giving them the proper armor to defend themselves, by sending boys and girls to their death for a lie that we are losing and by treating veterans like animals by not giving them the proper medical care and social assistance when they return. He also says that he must stay in Congress in order to continue to "cut taxes." When should we start laughing Rick? You mean cut taxes for the wealthiest 2 percent of the county while we are facing the largest deficit in our history. Of course the rest of us don't count Rick because we can't afford to give to your campaign. He also claims that he needs to stay in Congress in order to "protect our borders" and he once again talks of his asinine idea to float balloons above Mexico. What he doesn't mention is that this will give his daddy's corporation another meaty defense contract. He would rather invest in corporate America as opposed to investing in the American worker and hiring more border patrol officers.
Then again, why are we talking about the issues anyway? The real reason for Rick's newsletter is to shill for some cash. He's asking for his supporters to give a millionaire some more dough. To give the guy who has his hand permanently stretched out to the indicted Delay, even more money. Does Rick have any shame at all? He talks about tomorrow's FEC quarterly deadline as though the number he shows on October 15 will be paltry. When you see our number compared to his, you will fully understand why we ask for contributions from ordinary folks in order to fight our battle against corruption and lies. We have Rick on the run but we need your help to keep him running all the way to the unemployment line.
Sincerely,
Mike Caccioppoli
P.S. Try to spell my name right next time Rick, I know you can do it.
MY PRESS RELEASE:
Democratic Congressional candidate Mike Caccioppoli responds to Renzi newsletter
Today, Rick Renzi sent out a newsletter asking for money for his re-election campaign that was filled with lies. "The fact that Mr. Renzi would come out and ask for money a day after Tom Delay, a man that he has taken thousands of dollars from, was indicted, shows that he truly has no shame." Renzi falsely claimed that Mr. Caccioppoli was for abandoning the war on terrorism. "My opponent once again blatantly lies when he says I'm for abandoning the war on terrorism, when the truth is that I'm for ending the occupation of Iraq. Maybe Rick forgot that there were no weapons of mass destruction found there, or maybe he just needs to repeat the same lies inspired by his mentor Karl Rove. The people of Arizona are tired of being lied to." Renzi goes on to say that Mr. Caccioppoli is for same-sex marriage."Even when Rick makes himself sick to stomach by telling the truth, he doesn't tell the whole truth. I don't believe the government should be taking benefits away from the few that still have them. If Renzi got his way, children of same-sex couples would lose benefits as well, as a father of twelve he should be ashamed of himself."
Renzi claims that he needs to stay in Congress in order to continue to support our troops, cut taxes, and fight against illegal immigration. "Renzi says he supports our troops yet he doesn't give them the armor they need to protect themselves. I believe the best way to support our troops is to keep them alive and to bring them home. He claims he cuts taxes, but he doesn't mention that it is only for the wealthiest two percent of our country." Mr. Caccioppoli goes on to talk about border protection. "My opponent once again touts his sci-fi inspired plan to float balloons above Mexico. What he doesn't want to mention is that this will give his daddy's corporation another meaty defense contract. He'd rather put money in his father's wallet than invest in the American worker and hire more border patrol guards." Mr. Caccioppoli concludes, "We obviously have Rick Renzi on the run, but it's up to the people of Arizona to make sure he keeps on running straight to the unemployment line."
I don't think anymore needs to be said
