I was very pleasantly surprised to find out tonight that the New York Times Magazine published a letter I had written to them a couple of weeks ago. I was surprised because the main letters section of the paper (Section A) has always called me when they've published my letters in the past. I assumed that since I never heard from the Magazine, they weren't going to run my letter. (Hardly a surprise - they must get millions of letters.) But a friend of mine told me about it tonight.
And indeed, there it is! Scroll down to the section titled "The Life of the Party?" - mine is the first letter. (And I guess I'm outing myself here!) It was in reponse to this piece in the previous week's magazine.
What's interesting is that I also wrote a much longer diary here on the subject. I think it's a good study in contrasts: Rip the NYT (or your media organization of choice) all you want here on DKos, but be polite (and above all, brief) when you send them letters if you want to get published.
