"The baby boomers are entering retirement age. There will be fewer workers in the future to fund benefits. The Social Security Trust Fund contains a bunch of IOU's. This is a crisis we must address with innovative measures."
This is the message Bush and company plan to put out there in massive dosages in the coming months. Our representatives will be under much pressure to agree to his plans. I have just set up a Yahoo group with the purpose of collecting the creativity and energies of many to write as many letters as possible to our representatives and convince them that there is overwhelming opposition to Bush's radical ideas. I will begin inviting people to join the group after our Counter Inaugural party next week and want to kick it off with a campaign opposing Social Security privatization.
What are your strong arguments against Social Security privatization? What points are central to your opposition? What letter would you write to a wavering Republican?
