I was struck by this story my dad told me tonight about a lady in her 80s reaction to the events in New Orleans.
"During WWII we were able to build a bridge across the Rhine River in two days under fire, UNDER FIRE!" she said and she pounded her frail small hand against the table.
"If we could build a bridge across the Rhine River under fire 60 years ago, why the hell haven't we built a bridge, or fed people, or done anything to get everyone out and taken care of?"
Of course, the answer is simple... the President and his staff and appointments don't care. These are just poor people, and sure enough if the Speaker of the House isn't already talking about leveling the whole city.
How long are we going to let Republicans get away with dodging responsibility by claiming that questioning their inaction and complete incompetency is "playing politics"?
Get over it and fix this situation, ASAP.
Our government is failing the 60-year-old test. This disaster is so disturbing that I can hardly watch the footage on TV... and it keeps getting worse. I am so angry right now, I can hardly stand it.
