We blog on hour after hour discussing the sources and directions of Power in our divided country.
But it is indisputable that the current Regime rules only by the Power that WE provide it.
In the absence of our support, it dries up and blows away.
Aren't YOU ashamed today to have paid for some U.S. soldiers to go to Iraq, rape a girl, murder her family, and burn the bodies in a cover-up attempt?
How much more? How much more?
We have allowed this MADNESS to continue long enough.
From the point of the Schiavo insanity onward, there has been no shred of legitimacy to this government from any major political viewpoint, and it has merited only that we each turn our backs to it, until it resigns.
Of course, we will make our best efforts in the coming elections.
But, in parallel to that, and especially following another stolen election, or a continued weak Democratic opposition to Bushism, we must prepare our Plan B.
People always imagine "Resistance" to consist of masses of progressives pouring "into the streets."
Ain't gonna happen.
For now, the blogs are our streets.
And the efficiency of message-building and spreading here is incredible.
It just has to be the right message.
1) DE-FUND THE REGIME.
Immediate non-cooperation with the carrying-on of its criminal activities.
An instant "Citizens' RICO arrest", with "civil forfeiture", if you will.
A Citizen Strike.
The actual "streets" where we need to protest are the daily avenues of commerce and labor, which the Rape-publicans tax 20-25% of to maintain and increase their control.
The "draft" of our daily labors, used to gun down families in Iraq.
Remove the regime's power to daily oppress you further.
Remove its incentives to plunder you one more day.
Take away Karl Rove's play money. "Starve" Grover Norquist's "Beast".
Direct action. Civil disobedience. Freedom rides. Bus boycott. Sound familiar?
When your right to vote and be counted is abridged, you must act directly. (And sometimes even when a majority votes for something evil, like segregation, you must act directly against it, too.)
Against a regime that has overthrown your Constitutional Republic, and is murdering innocent children in Iraq, can it be long before all manner of horrors will be visited upon you and yours, too, if we do not stop them today?
What is the risk of action, vs. the risk of non-action?
And especially now, when non-violent options still remain to us. Options that are optimally promising of effectiveness.
Without elaborating this citizen power here (as the links below do), this action operates on both the symbolic level (a collecting of pledges building up to larger numbers, or, token amounts threatening fuller refusals) and practical (every $ counts). On the individual level (clearing conscience) and the collective (citizens taking real power.)

2) MONTHLY PROTEST ACTIONS.
Same day, each month.
July 15th.
August 15th.
September 15th.
October 15th
November 15th
December 15th...
The same drumbeat of dates that began to drive Nixon mad in 1969, and drove him to Watergate and Impeachment.
Every campus, every workplace, every home.
Teach-ins, sit-ins, discussion groups, voter registration parties. Whatever your creative imagination can offer. Just "Stop the Coup" days.
Massive fun, and a re-birth for our national spirit.
One consistent day per month, never too far ahead in time, nor too far behind in memory. Not organized by any feuding committee of national groups and tendencies, but every local group doing its part.
No gigantic airfare bills flying to DC or NYC, or searching desperately for hotels, etc etc. No worrying about the logistics, or the press' headcount. Just showing up around your hometown, same date, same idea.
DAMMIT! We are ALREADY A MAJORITY! How much easier could this be made for us????????
The key thing being the knowing that, all across the land, people just like you are doing the same.
And they will next month, and the month after.
Until everyone knows the date -- the 15th -- and expects the action.
Until one day, the President's (and vice-President's) announcements of resignation seem almost an afterthought to the news broadcasts...
3) LONG-TERM,
a review of corporate structure, and the prerogatives of corporate ownership in America, must be carried out.
Especially media corporations, the propaganda arms of a fascistic regime. The airwave frequencies belong to we the people, don't they?
The fundamental principle being that corporations should be owned by their workers and consumers, after entrepreneurs have had ample opportunity to initiate, innovate, and profit reasonably from their efforts and intelligence.
Corporations will thereby be pulled several steps back from influencing the political process, breaking the vicious circle that now entrenches feudalistic power in the wealthy few.
But, for today,

it is enough to bring their coup to an end, by activating the already-existing majority of citizens opposed to it.
