While it is true that you can only believe what people
do, not what people
say ("Show me the money, so to speak.") it seems that most people only respond to images, imaginings and bullshit.
I am so disgusted by the masses of people rushing to support Kerry, who apparently was in Vietnam, holds some liberal positions and has a record of doing nothing.
And the masses collectively and resoundly reject Howard Dean, which is mystifying to me, as a real person who accomplishes great things. I think Dean is a victim of his own principles. He won't whore out, thinks TV is fucking retarded and won't play the media game. His loss and mine.
I am mystified. I am disgusted. I am distressed by the power of images in this culture.
I feel more disengaged than ever. My next step? Yeah, local politics. In New York City? Talk about bedrock. I won't be changing that.
Naysayers can fault Dean's unsavvy and lousy politicking. I guess I support Dean because I don't watch TV news and read those shit papers. I read his positions and his record and based my decision on that, instead of spin and party cronyism. What a nut, eh?
Don't tell me Kerry was 'fooled' about the war, or how NCLB was not that bad, just unfunded. Fuck that. Saint Kerry's annointing just reminds me how little geniune action matters - image is all.
