that Bush was almost crying as he talked about the demise of the Dubai Ports World deal?
I am asking about this, because it makes me wonder if one conjecture I had might have been true and Bush has now lost a significant political coup.
I had wondered in a previous diary whether or not the whole Dubai Ports World deal was akin to the Iran-Contra deal. When I saw Bush's demeanor as he talked about the demise of the deal, I was struck by it. His voice was cracking and he was nearly crying.
I don't know anyone who would react like that to a money deal falling through when there are other possible deals and they are not in financial trouble. It makes my impression that this deal was not just monetary much stronger.
It may be that bin Laden has slipped away from Bush again, this time because he was trying subterfuge and using bait to get help with that he ended up not having control over.
It was strange seeing Bush break up like that, as he hasn't done so before in my recollection. He can stand up and tell an outright falsehood and smile (or smirk) while he does it. It surprised me and worries me a bit that he almost cried.
