According to CNN Online, a deal has been brokered about the Senate Filibuster.

The Deal would have the Dems allowing an up or down vote on Five Nominees, with two being Filibustered. In addition, the agreement calls upon the Preznit to consult with home state senators and Senate Judiciary Committee when making nominations.
Somewhat more below the fold...
What is interesting about this is that 6 Repubs will supposedly vote no to the Nuclear Option. But if you continue in the same article, you will see that even CNN believes that Frist may not have the votes in the first place to pursue the Nuclear Option.
So what, exactly, have the Dems succeeded in winning? If Frist doesn't have the votes in the first place, there was no reason to give up on 5 of Bush's nominees. The only answer that makes any sense is that by not bringing the Filibuster issue to a vote right now, the Dems are hoping that it will give the Repubs more grief when they have to use it against Supreme nominations. At least, that is my hope. Otherwise, we just gave away the milk for free.
