Mexico, Video: legislators beaten up in front of the Mexican Congress

Fri Aug 18, 2006 at 07:01:52 AM PDT

So what does Mexican democracy the one that the Washington Post keeps praising, looks like?

How about like this?

Why don't you watch democracy in action below, where Mexican legislators are beaten up for attempting to demonstrate in favor of a vote recount:

To fully understand these images, imagine Democratic representatives being beaten by the police in front of Congress after the 2000 election.

Another video of the same incident:

Among the small crowed that the anti-riot police attacked, were legislators belonging to center-left parties.

Why were they attacked? Because they planned to demonstrate in the Mexican Congress in favor of a total recount.

Repeat: Mexican legislators got beaten because they wanted to express their political opinion in favor of a vote recount

This is clearly undemocratic. This is clearly an abuse of power. This is clearly the use of state violence against peaceful dissention.
