I believe that a relative mistake has been made by
Time Magazine in its pick of Man of the year award for this year. Time picked folks who are doing humanitarian work, which for the most part is done to try and pick up the pieces for failed government policies. However there are two men who happen to be members of the US judiciary that may have saved the world's best experiment in true Democracy from a not so subtle attempt at conversion to a theocratic fascist state. The other two branches of the US government seem to have been complicit in this dastardly attempt, so thank goodness at least some Judges do see and take the role of the Judiciary in America seriously! I for one wish to thank them a million times over. (see poll)
Federal judge John E. Jones III has tried to replace the wall of separation between church and state in his ruling on intelligent design being taught in science classes. Besides reaffirming this separation, Judge Jones has also tried to reset the United States science education on a science-based foundation which may turn out to be the most important part of this ruling. I for one wish to thank him a million times over.

HARRISBURG, Pa., Dec. 20 - A federal judge ruled on Tuesday that it was unconstitutional for a Pennsylvania school district to present intelligent design as an alternative to evolution in high school biology courses because it is a religious viewpoint that advances "a particular version of Christianity."

Evolution Trial in Hands of Willing Judge (December 18, 2005) In the nation's first case to test the legal merits of intelligent design, the judge, John E. Jones III, issued a broad, stinging rebuke to its advocates and provided strong support for scientists who have fought to bar intelligent design from the science curriculum.
U.S. District Judge James Robertson has tried to protect the constitution from being steamrolled by a devious and corrupt executive branch while the high jacked Congress looks on mutely for the most part. What Judge Robertson has done may not be enough to actually restore appropriate checks and balances in America if we are just too far down the fascist path, BUT hopefully we are not too far down that path and his resignation's hidden message of a plea for common sense may now tip more folks to wake the frick up! I for one wish to thank him a million times over.
WASHINGTON, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- A judge on a secret U.S. court that oversees domestic spying has resigned over President Bush's end run around the court, a report says.
The Washington Post said U.S. District Judge James Robertson is one of 11 members of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, called the FISH court.
Robertson sent a letter to Chief Justice John Roberts late Monday telling him about the resignation, but without giving a reason, the Post said.
Robertson privately expressed concern that the surveillance authorized by the president in 2001 "may have tainted the FISH court's work," the Post said.
A Clinton appointee, Robertson was appointed to the FISH court by the late Chief Justice William H. Ringquist.
The surveillance monitored international calls from the United States without a warrant issued by a court.
Since media reports revealed the surveillance program, some politicians on both sides of the aisle have expressed doubts about its legality.
However, the president has said the program is legal, and he would continue to use it to prosecute the war on terror.
