When BeninSC e-mailed me early this AM to ask for my help on this daily exercise in highlighting outstanding comments (while Carnacki,
our fearless leader in comment-promotion, is doing some R-and-R), I said sure and jumped in with both right-and-left clicks. Smart, huh?
WRONG!
Having spent the entire day thinking,
What the f*** was I thinking?!, I now see that volunteering for this duty is going to just ruin my dubiously distinctive reputation for
copious diary-reading and -recommending. I bet I've only recommended fifteen or twenty today, instead of my usual 100 or so because,
dammit to hell, I've been racing through the diaries, trying to get to the comments.
There was a diary here? About what?? Ooh, that's a good one. No, maybe not. It could be. No, it's not as good as that other one. Uh, which other one? THAT other one, dumbass.
So, end of the day, I've come up with a list of comments for your consideration. I loved 'em all and I really don't give a flying figleaf if you do or not hope you do as well.
Ivan's snappy comeback re: Daily Kos NYT Free Press prize (wherein the winner gets a year's subscription to the NYTimes).
This bit of witty repartee between MrHinkyDink and david78209 on the credibility of the wingnutosphere.
From the day's Cheers and Jeers, check out grndrush, BuffaloGirl, GOTV, and Eddie Haskell (who seems to have tapped that keg a day early).
If you run up against a wingnut who claims that all these US soldiers under investigation (for murder, rape, etc.) are being unfairly persecuted, bellatrys has the appropriate comeback.
ben masel hints of things to come.
On Lieberman's announcement today, poemless issues some righteous advice for Dean, et al.
About the Geneva Conventions and the Constition, this exchange between Shockwave, Vermonty and Gooserock.
On the big NIE-lie (What did Bush say and when did he say it), emptywheel starts a line of commentary (follow it down, if you please, to the MARVELOUS question: "Would Dick flip on Bush?").
On Federally qualified health centers, important info from dbratl and dallasdoc.
On Medicare Part-D, proudlattedrinker seizes the moment in a pharmacy and wozzle issues a a warning (follow it down, please, to barbwires' response - all good, all good).
Lest we forget from mikebailey2000 on the harsh commentary about Native Americans by Tom Jefferson in the Declaration.
Sally in SF gives us the best photo for this Independence Day eve.
How could we possibly celebrate Independence Day without some plain-spoken, fighting words from our preeminent revolutionary, Maryscott?
These next ones are from BeninSC:
Eugene on fallacies pertaining to government regulation. Welcome comment for those of us who feel Roosevelt implemented scrupulous standards during the New Deal.
lamdat summing up at least two sides of arguments pertaining to Hillary.

Note from BeninSC: For the next few days Carnacki is on vacation. We'd love to have any comment suggestions you make, but if you send them to him, we won't see them. Please send them to me via the address in my profile. Also, we're still looking for one or two more "comment miners." Please email me if you would like to help us with this activity. Suggestions welcome! Thanks, Ben
