First, let me commend kos on the new diary rules. I'm not sure how long they've been up there, I haven't posted in a while, but they're clear and make sense. And yes, I have double-posted, so I too was part of the problem. Onward...
Howard Dean cancelled all his remaining Michigan appearances this afternoon to move on to Wisconson. He had a town meeting here in Ann Arbor Friday morning and something in Detroit as well. Does anybody else think that skipping out the day before the caucus to go to a state with 11 days left is a mistake?
I haven't looked at the latest "polls" (I made a conscious decision to stop doing that going into Iowa), but I couldn't avoid on NPR yesterday that Kerry is kicking everyone to the tune of 50%, with Dean at 13% and everyone else splitting the rest.
I'm sure today's Kerry endorsements by Sen. Levin and Stabenaw helped Dean make his decision, but I think this was a bad move.
I understand the final Alamo stand in Wisconson, but how much good is one more day there going to do compared to cancelling a town meeting on the campus of a huge university the day before the caucus and bailing on whatever event was planned in the most segregated major city in the country.
I thought Michigan was one of the reasons he cut back on this past Tuesday's primaries.
Now I realize a good part of this might be coming from my personal disappointment, I was really pumped for the town meeting and was talking it up. But I can't help feeling like the message he's sending is that he has written the state off.
