I hope this boycott is not viewed as a "popular" cause, as it is clearly not. What is popular is continuing in our delusions that our nation and we as individuals can infinitely tolerate growing debt as a means to satisfy our consumerist, bottomless pit. It is an addiction. Oil is not an addiction as Mr. Bush put it. His analysis was a Red Herring intended to suggest that only oil is the problem. We Americans use too much of everything. This boycott is like dieting, first to send a message to the politicians by a dramatic change in our buying habits, as we cut back to minimal/survival mode. But, in the long term, to PERMANENTLY avoid consumer credit, houses that are intended to impress rather than simply provide sufficient comfort and ambiance.
