The other day I
diaried about Libby's literary efforts and the bravery of
The New Yorker's Lauren Collins in reading the book.
But now Nerve.com has gone even further, excerpting the passages Collins cited for even more jaw-dropping bizzarity. (yup, I made that word up - I'm sure there's a German equivalent or something but I'm pressed for time.)
Their
article, titled "Dirty, Dirty, Dirty Politician" includes four excerpts notable for their 'family values' as well as their tortured prose (which may have been crafted at an undisclosed Soviet-era facility in an unnamed EasternEuropean country.)
Here's a sample, which I believe Sen. Rick Santorum would find, shall we say, interesting:
He said that boys from the village took the merchant's daughter places, and word spread that she had many lovers. There were odd tales of her sexual prowess, and they said she had coupled with dogs and men and several of the boys at once. Then to their village came a young samurai, who spotted the girl as all did, and she folded him into her. She took other lovers in the village, which enraged him, but he would not be done with her . . .
