Everyone here should read "Altas Shrugged" under the doctrine of "know your enemy." It is the bible for the Grover Norquists of the world. But a strange thing will happen when you read it. Because you are smarter that your opponents - at least in the sense that you understand metaphor because you have functioning right-hemispheres in your brains - you will find yourselves armed to the teeth with irrefutable ammunition penned by your opponent's own goddess.
And so we come to the Taggart Tunnel Disaster.
Rand lays this disaster at the feet of a corrupt government in bed with incompetent business leaders who steal from their own companies for self-aggrandizement. Resources are cut back until they are inadequate, orders are given by the incompetent at the behest of the ignorant and powerful, a trainload of people is killed, and the country's last remaining transcontinental link is permanantly severed.
Of course the metaphor-impaired Rand devotees see this as an indictment of socialism, but alas that is their own blindness. Rand gives no quarter to incompetence of any stripe. Read the book. New Orleans is the Taggart Tunnel come to life. Beat your opponents with this until they bleed.
