Attorneys for the parents of a brain-damaged Florida woman, Terri Schiavo, asked the U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday for an emergency order that would allow her feeding tube to be reinserted.
They made the request to Justice Anthony Kennedy after a U.S. appeals court in Atlanta upheld a Florida federal judge's ruling and rejected their appeal because they failed to show a substantial case on the merits for any of their claims.
The Supreme Court twice last week refused to get involved in the emotional right-to-die case in which Christian activists have supported the parents, Mary and Robert Schindler, against Terri Schiavo's husband and guardian, Michael Schiavo.
