The Discovery channel has had a "greatest American" poll going. My husband and I voted as many times as we could- but we were still somewhat disgusted by the national results.
Our question to you?
Who do YOU think the greatest American is?
Apparently the "majority" of people who voted thought the list should go something like this:
- Ronald Reagan
- Abraham Lincoln
- Dr. King
- Washington
- Franklin
- W
- Clinton
- Elvis
- Oprah
- FDR
Thomas is muttering under his breath as he cleans up from dinner, "This just shows the absolute, fucking lunacy of Americans who don't know their history." Since the gentleman representing the Reagan camp made some comment about how he helped so many poor people, I'd be inclined to agree.
I guess Thomas did a bit too much muttering over this one. About 15 minutes after the show ended, we were in the ER, with severe chest pain, heaviness, pain in the left arm, shortness of breath, cold sweats - the whole nine yards. Fuckers vote for Reagan as the greatest American (as if there any such thing, points below well taken) and he gets sick. Goddamn 'em. Lots of tests and several hours later, we got to go home, but that was the scariest moment in my whole life. At least he wasn't having a heart attack. We'll go to the cardiologist on Wednesday for a stress test.
As far as the names on the list go, those were the final ten names in the contest. I do not know what other individuals were listed.
Thanks for all your feedback -
