I was watching a Biography of Dick Cheney on CNN that aired in November. It talked about how Cheney first created his plan for the invasion of Iraq in 1991 during the Gulf War and presented it to Dubya's
Daddy. Well George HW Bush apparently said to Cheney and Rummy, " NO, that is right wing lunacy.".
Bush Sr refused to invade Iraq in 1991 and only agreed to free Kuwait after Iraq invaded them.
Well the program went on to say that Cheney kept this plan with him and 10 years later presented it to George W. Bush who embraced it because he depended on Cheney's experience. Some believe that Bush made a deal to get Cheney on the ticket and some of us believe that deal involved Cheney getting free reign. Bush needed Cheney and he gave Cheney more power than any other Vice President in History which we all know.
Another fascinating detail is that Rumsfeld and Cheney go way back to the Nixon White House. They are chums from way back and God only knows how deep their scandals run.
That is why I just knew in my gut that Rumsfeld would never resign because he is part of the inner circle of Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rice and Rumsfeld.
I think Bush gives this group free reign because they know as the saying goes, figuratively speaking of course, they know where the bodies are buried. I think they all have something on each other.
As I sat and watched this program and learned all about Evil, Devious, Darth Vader Cheney, it also gave me insight into Dubya and his father.
When I discovered Bush Sr. held Cheney in check and put the kybosh on ideas which he deemed as
" right wing lunacy"; I have to wonder if Bush did not see the Program, Father Knows Best. I detested Bush Sr but I would take that old, crazy man over his lunatic, fascist Son...in a heartbeat. I also never thought I would live to see the day I would embrace Gerald Ford and welcome news coverage about how he trip and stumbled.
I have always been convinced Shrub has Daddy issues and he wants to show Daddy he can do better than him and show Daddy he is tough and strong and better. During his drinking days, I think Daddy Bush would really nail Shrub about something and Shrub once challenged him to a fight !!! That has been mentioned by Bush friends.
Imagine challenging your father to a brawl!!
That is disgraceful!! Hey people have father issues but just walk away and do not challenge their father to a duel.
He is not a good son but Daddy will of course keep the dirty laundry a secret or it would reflect badly on the family and Republicans whom Daddy wants to please too.
What a dysfunctinal family and we are not even talking Neal ..as that is for another diary and reads like a trashy novel.
