I haven't heard much about it here at dailyKos. I haven't seen it in my emails. I ask my Dem friends, and they don't know what I'm talking about. And I bet many of you don't either. So my question is,
Why aren't we all hosting a National Organizing Kickoff party next Tuesday???
And if the words "Dem" and "party" seem like a good idea to you, read more below the fold.
I got an email from Howard Dean a few weeks ago, asking me (along with a gazillion others, I'm sure) to host a National Organizing Kickoff party in my home. The basics are:
- Everyone has their party on Tuesday, November 15.
- We're encouraged to have them in our homes.
- We're encouraged to invite our neighbors.
- At 7:30 PM EST and again at 9:30, there's going to be a nation-wide conference call with the good Doctor, during which he will talk about the 50-State Strategy, the platform for next year, and how everyone can get involved.
- The DNC site also has stuff you can download and print, and you're encouraged to do so and give it out.
- And of course, refreshments of your choice are encouraged!
This sounded like a good deal to me, so I signed up. Imagine my surprise when I discovered I was the only host in the entire city! (There are now two of us -- in a city of 1.6 million or so.)
I'm amazed!! Look, folks, it is now less than 12 months to the 2006 elections, and the time to get started is NOW! I talked it up at the Democratic club meeting last night, and I'm talking it up here now. You've got a few days, plus a weekend, to put it together. How hard can it be?
Here's what I did -- threw together a flyer in Word, ran over to Kinko's and made 50 copies, then walked my neighborhood and put them in doors until I ran out. Even if those people just throw it away, guess what -- they know that the Dems are alive and well in this well-off, mostly Repub subdivision.
So, what are you waiting for? Stop spending hours READING and spend some time DOING! Get to the DNC site, click the link on the right, and either find a party near you or host one yourself. Let's do this!
