I am going to make a small prediction about Dean II.
Now, we understand that Dean II will be aiding Democratic congressmen and senators in contested campaigns, but there was also a large push about two weeks ago to find 100 people who have been inspired by Howard Dean to run for political office.
Imagine if each one of those 100 people were given a $10,000 check to start their campaigns. Imagine the free publicity each of these candidates would get. Imagine how this would inspire more regular citizens to run for office and to back Dean's platform.
Then imagine if Dean II also donated $30,000 to 30 congressmen in contested districts. If Dean II gave $100,000 to 10 senators in contested states. If Dean II handed $1 million to John Kerry's campaign. Another $1 million for an ad buy.
With a $5 million initial drive, Dean's message, everything we fought for, would not die. At the very least Dean II could be a conduit for bundling small contributions to candidates who back a foreign policy based on allies not antagonism, who want to balance our budget, who want healthcare for everyone, who want equal rights for homosexuals and lesbians, and who want counter balance the power of special interests in Washington D.C.
That plan would have me opening my check book again.
(Of course, I'm a little broke, so another Dean donation would only be in the form of $100.)
