Another day, another dippy@ss "fwd: fwd: fwd:" email in my inbox. Today's treasure was imploring us to "wear red on Fridays to support the troops." Silly me, I actually clicked on the link to read the article.
As you probably guessed, the article confuses "supporting the troops" with "supporting the Iraq war, Dubya and all he stands for."
The email blathers on about Liberal Media, red-blooded Americans, and ends with this choice quote:
THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED---- SO WEAR RED! --- MAY GOD HELP AMERICA TO BECOME ONE NATION, UNDER GOD.
At the bottom of the email message is:

Some choice excepts follow from the linked article from April 2003, quoting from the Daily Vidette, "Illinois State University's Student Newspaper Since 1888":
James Rivera, an employee at Chestnut Health Systems, got the idea from a co-worker who got the idea from a forwarded e-mail to wear red on Fridays as an expression of support for the armed forces.
<snip>
He said he is excited that now people are coming out and admitting their commitment to the armed forces. He added, for a while it was popular to protest the war, but more people are showing up on the other side now. Wearing red on Fridays would be a way to show support for the troops, he said, which would be a positive thing in contrast to the negativity which has often surrounded the war.
<snip>
Rivera said he hopes to cover the country in red, much to the disdain of what he deemed the "un-American" ralliers. "Really, it's like basically stepping on the graves of the kids fighting -- and they are kids," Rivera commented.

On the surface, this stupid email appeared to just be a "feel good" sort of thing, but when I read the linked article, I realized this person was referring to people like ME.
It just really PISSES ME OFF that some yahoo would accuse me of being un-American because I dare to question the Administration's Policies.
Reference is made to this being a grassroots effort. What do you folks think - is it truly grassroots and they're just ignorant, or is this Astroturf from some College Republicans or similar bunch?
