So Jessica Lynch got her book deals, her made for TV movie, her Diane Sawyer interview. She's on the cover of TIME. Good for her.
Don't get me wrong, from what I've seen of her - in her own words - she's a humble, smart, gentle person. I think she deserves to be called a hero.
But what about Shoshana Johnson, who was taken hostage in Iraq, shot twice, held for weeks and put in front of a camera by her captors? Her colleague-in-arms, Lori Ann Piestewa, wasn't that lucky - she perished in the ambush, the first Native American woman to die in combat.
These three women together COULD HAVE represented a Trinity of heroism and perseverance.
But someone decided it was bad for the ratings.
