It's hard to deny that we are in the midst of a turn-around, with the media, who, for the past three years have been all but licking Bush's cowboy boots, finally showing a little spine and shining light on the Administration's negligence. This is not mere criticism, but rather seems to be an effort, at least nominal, to get out the truths which have been apparent, but unreported, for so long.
The question is: how do we keep it going?
The news outlets seem a lot lazier than they did 6 or 7 years ago, during the Clinton impeachment. A lot of folks have chastised them for this, I among them. But is whipping the media out of laziness really the answer? Can that even truly be done?
It can be argued that for the last two presidential terms, the GOP has not only dominated the news, they have been the ones making the news. They made the Clinton impeachment, and, through incompetence, they have made the current crisis that is our unpreparedness against future terrorism, the situation in Iraq, etc.
Comparatively, Democrats have been content to let news happen to or around them. So perhaps, rather than going after the media, we need to further shake up our Party.
