Heard a bit of Hannity and Tony Snow various times today (had to do a lot of driving for work- no Air America around these parts).
The Wingnuts are after Arlen big time. Snow was claiming that as Chairman of Judiciary Arlen would stay in line because if not, they'll yank his chairmanship.
Now... let's look at the logic of this...
Specter had a rightwing challenger, who he defeated. He had a Dem challenger, who he defeated. He is immensely popular in his home state of PENNSYLVANIA, which happens to be a battleground state, big time.
His Senate cohort, Mr. Santorum (no I'm not calling him a dirty name, that really is his name, in fact, I hear they named it after HIM) will face a tough re-election battle- which is why Mr. Santorum endorsed Specter instead of his wingnut challenger.
If the GOP ousts Specter and publicly humiliates him, how will this play back home in Altoona? And with Santorums chances?
PA is trending bluer- and if I were the GOP, perhaps I'd handle with kid gloves?
Hopefully they'll overreach, as they always do.
