As many of you probably know, Google offers the ability to advertise one's site based on search keywords through a program called
Google AdWords. The results are highlighted to the right of the actual search results.
I was taking a look at what campaigns and other advertisers are using AdWords. Not surprisingly, both Dean and Clark sites have made purchases, not only for their candidate sites, but for other terms as well. A search for "John Kerry" provides advertising to both the Clark and Dean sites. Search on the word "Dean" brought up a Kerry and a Clark buy.
I wish I knew how long those two purchases on "John Kerry" have been in play - is it based on an expectation that he'll be out soon and those interested in him will be in play again soon, or is it due to Internet savvy and an effort to take advantage of all the tools available? Or, I guess the most likely answer, both.
I thought I might find Adword buys for campaigns based on issues, such as
Iraq War
which I did not, but I did find a Clark buy on the term "terrorism". And what appears to be a Dean purchase for "tax cuts" and "deficits" (points to bushtax.com). "Deficit" points to Dean's web site directly.
Other interesting AdWord buys:
Clark bought "Democrat" and "Democratic".
Dean bought "Gun Control".
I'll keep looking, I find this interesting. Feel free to post anything else you may find on Google.
