Only bloggers should be allowed to vote.
One of you said that would be a great sig. I responded that I did not want people to look at it and chuckle, and then forget it.
I am serious. One of the greatest flaws in our Constitution is the lack of a filter to disqualify would-be voters who are too ignorant to be allowed to vote.
About 25 years ago, I was one of those voters. I voted for whatever name sounded a little more familiar. I did not know the difference between Republican and Democrat until 1988, when Jesse Jackson taught me.
I want you to brainstorm as to how a person would qualify as a blogger. This would have to be a state by state crusade, I suppose. Unless some of you can tell me a legal basis for making it a federal issue.
Do no rule it out. We made the rules. We can change the rules.
Frank Zappa once said, if you never try anything different, you will never find anything better.
Think how great it could be, to campaign on the issues, instead of the race of John Mcain's child, or a smear on Max Cleland.
I want to make it very easy for anyone to qualify as a blogger. Just go to a blog, read an essay, post a comment. E-mail your state election commission, or federal. They can check the blog, see your comment, and get you registered as a voter.
Bill Maher is with me on this, in that he does not like the get out the vote campaigns. He agrees that one of the big things wrong with our system is that we let very ignorant people vote.
Yes, I know that white racists, not so long ago, used this kind of thing to stop black people from voting. I want a system that could not be easily manipulated in that way.
I want it to be as easy as getting a driving license. In Kansas, a person can look at the booklet, ask a friend to help with the answers. That is how easy I want it to be.
I just want to force the voters to look at the issues a little bit, think a little bit, before voting.
Wait, give me feedback on this. Tell me if a person should have to pass an open book test prepared by a political science proffesor. Plus the blogging excercise.
Give me input!
Feed my ego!
But mainly, fix the world!
