After the Pennsylvania primary I was hopeful that we would all come together to work towards the defeat of Santorum. Alan Sandals took the
high road and has this on his site:
MAY 16, 2006
I spoke a few minutes ago with Bob Casey. I wished him the courage and strength to be a true Democrat and to defeat Rick Santorum.
I wish him the courage to speak out loudly and often
- against an open-ended, tragic and costly military occupation of Iraq
- against the scourge of illegal handguns that is plaguing our cities and killing our children and teenagers.
- against the gun lobby, against foes who refuse to admit that there is a difference between a deer in the forest and a nine-year old child waiting in a schoolyard.
Sandals takes the opportunity to assert his stand on gun control without turning his comment into an attack. Pennacchio chose to take the low road.
more on the flip
Here are some examples of comments from supporters that Chuck has on the front page of his website:
Now that the Democratic Party's tired leadership have their Republican-light candidate in Bob Casey, let's hope he can manage to beat Ricky, a man more like him than he is like you.
I was constantly telling people about Casey's positions and they were always shocked that the Democrats would put someone that was a Republican on their ticket.
PA missed a great opportunity yesterday! I will take no joy in voting for Bob Casey in November. How will Pennsylvanians distinguish him from Rick?
Now I find no fault with the commenters, they were sharing personal feelings with a candidate they belived in. I do however find it irresponsible for the Professor to post negative comments on his site. It is in no way prodcutive or helpful to the goal of dicthing Santorum. We need Chuck Pennacchio to get behind policy positions that he shares with Bob Casey, not continuing to point out their differnces. I'm calling on Chuck to put an endorsement for Bob Casey on his website, will Pennacchio supporters do the same?
