Does anyone remember that line? Used to identify situations where everyone is trying NOT to talk about the most prominent thing in the room.
Does anyone know the symbol of the GOP? Elephant.
I have followed the vote diaries for days now, and at minimum we have an unfinished election: provisionals, spoiled ballots, machine errors, lawsuits, voter challenges, recounts, etc. No electors have met yet.
Why is it called the democratic PROCESS? It's all dynamic and vital, as is this unfolding election.
I'm puzzled by the media blackout on this issue - nothing about a Bush II term is surprising or newsworthy, so the press is inventing stories to self-obsess about, such as Americans discovering morals, etc. How many times can Powell "resign"? Who can take that seriously?
We saw the media get blog-inspired as the campaign went on, as it became permissible to look at Bush's failures and deficits. They were held in check from a Gore-style assault on Kerry by the persistent blogosphere. At times the press started to seem "free."
But no coverage any more of the election? It looks like a media blackout, and that fact alone suggests something is up. Too many loose and lost reporters out there, with no campaign to cover any more, that ought to be picking up on the themes of electoral wreckage and filing stories. How many times can you write about red and blue? It's starting to approach nursery-rhyme level.
I know that Keith is bucking the trend. But the media shutout is a cause for concern, as it continues - it defies common sense that no post-campaign reporter is filing these stories. Statistically, it's off. You don't have to take a position on the election outcome to agree that there's some kind of silence going on.
Is there fear out there?
