Amidst all the talk about the flyer -- big deal? little deal? -- I am puzzled about another aspect of it.
Granted, this is primary season, not the general election. But perhaps it has occurred to others that the very accusations that the flyer makes -- Clark is not a "real" Democrat, Clark is not "anti-war" -- are the very things that may broaden his appeal in the general election?
The fact is, the majority of Americans are not faithful party members, and the majority thought taking out Saddam was a good thing, WMD or no. (Not my opinions, but then, I've never been in the majority.)
I don't think the flyer was a big deal, myself. But intentionally or not, it has generated press and attention. The flyer's claims appear a bit lame to me. If this is the best that the Dean camp can do, the Clark campaign should continue to rise.
