There has been a clip floating around the net for a while now of Frank Zappa on Crossfire in 1986 telling Washington Times columnist John Lofton to kiss his Ass. It's beautiful. The clip is of the entire Crossfile episode and is about 20 minutes long. I've watched the portion of the clip where Franks lays into Lofton and asks him to smooch his posterior several times, but I finally got around to watching the rest of the clip and I was completely blown away. Frank Zappa lays this Extremely Insightful comment on Robert Novak:
"The biggest threat to American today is not Communism, it's moving America towards a Facist Theocracy and everything that's happened during the Reagan Administration is steering us straight down that pipe."
Hearing him say that made me wish I had paid more attention to him politically back then - alas, I was just 18 and had other things on my mind (I did remember Tipper though - not good memories however since I was a metal head).
It is quite amazing to see his vision of America unfolding before my eyes. I'm sure he's rolled over by now with the criminal acts Bush-Co has commited. I wonder what Robert Novak thinks today when he thinks back on that conversation with Zappa.
The entire interview is excellent.
This bite is my favorite though:
"I love it when you froth like that."
