I just got an email from the SoCal Green Party. I've been getting email from the Democratic party for over a year, but this is the first email I've ever gotten from the party I'm registered with. You would think a third party would be much better at grass roots organizing.
Anyhow, the email was to inform me that the Green Party is holding a meet-up, or what they are calling a "convergence," April 2nd at San Diego State University. Meet-ups aren't my cup-o-tea, but if you are interested, I've posted the full email after the break.
We are contacting you to let you know about an upcoming major regional Green event.
We also want to inform you about options to receive periodic Green updates in the future (or to opt out from receiving any
email at all.)

1) Regional Southern California Green Gathering:
Don't Miss the Southern California Convergence
It's Fundamental!
Saturday, April 2nd, 2005
San Diego State University
http://sdgreens.org/conv.html
A convergence is a cross between a retreat and a conference.
Why should you attend?
- To meet other Greens and get involved.
- To learn the fundamentals of organizing, and strengthen our ability to grow the Green Party.
- To build and renew lasting relationships.
Workshops and speakers will focus on Diversity, Leadership, and Green Issues.
The weekend's keynote speaker will be Nativo Lopez, president
of MAPA (Mexican American Political Association). In 2004, Lopez switched to the Green Party and on this occasion will present his vision of Green/MAPA cooperation.
Also on hand during the weekend will be elected Greens Karl Warkomski (Mayor, Aliso Viejo) and Alan Drusys (City Council, Yucaipa), along with the Green Party's Press Secretary and many others.
For a full schedule, including Saturday night's Gypsy Trail Party, see

Soon you will be receiving an email from us with a form where you can indicate:
- whether or not you want to receive information about the Green Party,
- and if so, what kind and how often
