I have a concern that even though the numbers of people who agree with Bush on Social Security is down, more people do think it is a serious problem. Here is how we start the real fight.
1. Whenever a democrat is asked about Social Security, limit the responce to, "The truth about the issue is that if we have the same rate of growth for the next 50 years as we had for the last 50 years, solvency is taking care of......
- Immediately turn the debate to the truly important issue(s); healthcare/medicare/medicade ".......where we have an immediate crisis is in our entire healthcare system. Medicaid will run out of money in 12 years, and the coorporate conservatives' payoff to pharmacutical companies have made the issue worse. When it cost American manufacturers billions more than their foriegn competitors for healthcare, it is no wonder that we are loosing jobs overseas. And the Insurance Industry paid for Republicans have no plan to protect our elderly, our poor children, and our American workers from these dire circumstances!
- Throw in a quip about "we couldn't trust the Conservatives numbers on the cost of the drug plan, how can we trust them on Social Security?" and then refocus on healthcare, with the deficit getting the second most play!
