Yesterday I asked for this community to come together and join with Swing State Project and MyDD readers to make sure that Blue Majority candidates Charlie Brown and Donna Edwards get at least 100 contributions of $10 each by Saturday, which marks the end of the quarter.

At the beginning of yesterday, Brown had 45 contributions and Edwards had 109.  As I write, Brown is at 95 and Edwards at 157 - Brown is halfway to our goal and Edwards very nearly so.

Why is this important?  It's important because John Doolittle's wife gets 15% of all contributions to his PAC, and we can replace him with Charlie Brown, a guy who'll be giving 15% of all contributions made through his ActBlue page before the end of the quarter to Tahoe area fire victims.  It's important because Doolittle is under investigation and it's not inconceivable his term could end sooner than planned - if so, we want Charlie Brown to be ready.

It's important because Donna Edwards' primary against Al Wynn is in February, so it's already time for her campaign to be up and running strong.  Atrios posted one of her fundraising appeals yesterday and it lays out some key differences between Edwards and Wynn:

Last year, I challenged Congressman Al Wynn for Maryland's 4th Congressional district. I'm a Democrat and I challenged him in a Democratic primary. I did it because he voted for the war, voted for Bush's energy bill, worked with oil, coal, and nuclear companies to further their interests, and voted with big banks and credit card companies against consumers. But most of all, I ran against this entrenched incumbent because he has a history in Congress of taking the easy way out, of not making tough decisions, of standing on the sidelines. He was afraid of corporate interests, so he consistently did what they wanted for fifteen years in Congress.

At a certain point, after watching what these groups did to the country, I had had enough. From my work with battered women to my fights with the pharmaceutical industry to my fight for meaningful campaign finance and ethics reform, I've stood up and led. Like many of us I feel that we need representation in Congress that does the same - leads.

As Atrios said, "More and better Democrats, please."  Help us get there by giving $10 to Brown and Edwards.

P.S. If you're making an end-of-quarter donation (to the Blue Majority candidates or anyone else), tell us about it in comments.
