Now that Senator Joe Lieberman has announced his candidacy for the Senate as a member of the "Connecticut for Lieberman" Party, I would like to pose 10 questions to him to help discern how he would legislate in the next 6 years, through 2012. I expect a full response either from his campaign, or, as you wish, in your comments below.
1) With which party will you caucus in the Senate if elected in November?
(Questions 2-10 below the fold)
2) What is your stance on privatization/personal accounts/etc. of Social Security? Would you support an initiative proposed by the President to introduce personal accounts or privatize Social Security?
3) Will you support any resolution requiring phased withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq?
4) Do you still believe, as you stated last year, that Democrats undermine the President's credibility at the Nation's peril? As a Senator in the next 6 years, will you be willing to undermine the President's credibility?
5) [Follow-up to Question #3] If you do not support a resolution requiring phased withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, what do you then propose we do in Iraq going forward since, as you stated in an interview over the weekend, things in Iraq are going better, and worse, "if you will"?
6) As the sole U.S. Senator from the Connecticut for Lieberman Party, what would be your party's platform on Global Warming, Abortion, Birth Control, Civil Rights, Privacy, Torture, A Unitary Executive, Gun Control, Posse Comitasus, and The Bill of Rights?
7) You stated in your speech last night that there is too little bipartisanship in Washington today - on which issues do you expect to reach across the aisles to force bipartison agreement where there is currently no bipartisan agreement?
8) Is there any circumstance in which you could see yourself supporting a filibuster of a Supreme Court nominee by President Bush or his successor?
9) Which do you find to be more upsetting: Either (a) Democrats who demand withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq now, or (b) Republicans who support the Administrations use of rendition and torture in pursuing the War on Terror?
10) For your 2006 Senate campaign, will you categorically refuse to accept any money connected to President Bush or his advisor, Karl Rove, in all circumstances?
