My heart bleeds for the poor little rich people.
'President Bush this week acknowledged the possibility of making high-income workers pay more Social Security taxes as part of his plan for private Social Security accounts, and that notion has conservatives alarmed.'
Yes Conservative Morons, Bush is making all of you his bitch.
'The last Republican who broke a "no new taxes" pledge was booted out after one term, they reminded. His name: George H.W. Bush.'
Should have thought of that BEFORE you elected him then! You CAN'T Mulligan now! You go to Hell with the idiot you have, not the idiot you thought you had.
More on the flip.
' "People are quite angry about Bush opening a Pandora's box of tax increases," said Stephen Moore, an anti-tax activist with the Free Enterprise Fund. "It's almost like `read my lips' all over again."'
No, now it's "Bend over and smile for the camera."
In case you idiots on the Right missed it the first time, you CAN'T threaten him with withheld votes now. Its TOO LATE, which is why Bush is stabbing them in the back now.
'"When dad did it, it was bad politics and bad policy," said Grover Norquist, another anti-tax activist. "To do it again would be bad politics, bad policy and a lousy memory."
Hello! Bush timed it PERFECTLY to screw you. He doesn't give a rat's ass what the anti-tax people think now, he's not running again!
"I don't fault him, because at this stage the president is in the process of trying to bring everybody together," David Keene, chairman of the American Conservative Union, said of the current president. "I don't have any reason to believe this would happen."
So two wars, three tax cuts, and a borrow and spend binge by the Republicans did NOT clue you in as to what was going to happen? When spending goes up and revenue goes down, you incur deficits. And deficits MEAN FUTURE TAX HIKES.
Tax opponents generally agreed that any attempt to push a tax increase would kill efforts to create personal accounts in Social Security.
Another reason why we're so happy Republicans are the ones suggesting this, we get to have our cake and eat it too. Not only are the Republicans killing their own plan, they're alienating their own base in the process.
Scott Hodge, president of the Tax Foundation, said some conservatives see Bush's gesture on taxes as a "signal that the White House may be too quick to compromise."
Newsflash, this Whitehouse doesn't know the meaning of the word compromise.
While conservatives have been willing to give the president flexibility on some issues, raising taxes is not one of them. "This would be seen as heresy. This goes to the core beliefs of conservatives," Hodge said.
And that's what I like to hear.
Democrats don't have to win over the Republican voters, that's pretty much a lost cause.
They just need to get enough Republican conservatives, Christian fundies, gays, moderates, and minorities digusted enough with the Republicans that they won't vote for them.
And so far the Republicans have been obliging.
Hammer the message home.
Republicans lie.
Republicans cheat.
Republicans steal.
Republicans can't be trusted.
